A complete AI search audit goes beyond a URL scan

1. Confirm the business and questions

Start with the business, service area, optional website, confirmed facts, and a complete buyer-question bank. A URL-only crawl cannot establish what buyers ask or whether an answer is factually correct.

2. Name the observed surface

Keep the provider, route, intermediary, model or search-result surface, access mode, locale, and time visible. An API observation is not silently renamed as a signed-in consumer application.

3. Repeat the frozen sample

Quick selects up to 4 intent-stratified questions and uses n=3 repeated samples per selected question and available surface. Repetition exposes variation; it does not manufacture a stable rank.

4. Preserve answer evidence

Keep raw answers, citations, exact answer spans, failures, sample lineage, and review states so a finding can be audited instead of inferred from one opaque score.

5. Choose the smallest truthful action

Improve an existing answer, create one distinct evidence unit, prepare a legitimate source task, or keep observing. More pages are not the default remedy.

6. Verify and retest separately

Is an AI search audit just a website scan?

No. Technical crawl and index eligibility matter, but a useful audit also needs confirmed business facts, real buyer questions, named answer surfaces, repeated observations, source evidence, coverage gaps, and uncertainty.

Does GeoCheckTool produce one AI visibility score or competitor share of voice?

No. The current product reports separate answer distributions, evidence, coverage, and outcome states. It does not advertise one universal visibility score or a supported competitor share-of-voice metric.
