A six-step measurement framework

  1. Freeze buyer questions

    Start with questions that represent a real buyer need. Keep the wording, intent, locale, and inclusion rule visible so a later check can be compared to the same question.

  2. Name the observation route

    Record the provider, interface or API route, access mode, locale, date, and method version. A web-grounded API result is not automatically a signed-in consumer-app result.

  3. Repeat the same cohort

    Use repeated samples for each selected question and available route. Preserve answered, no-surface, not-run, timeout, invalid, and provider-failed slots instead of turning them into a single number.

  4. Read the evidence separately

    Keep literal mention, recommendation stance, cited URL, factual support, competitor alternatives, and question fit distinct. A citation is not automatically a recommendation or proof that the cited source supports the claim.

  5. Choose the smallest supported action

    Use confirmed gaps to improve an existing official answer, create a distinct evidence unit, correct a fact, or prepare a legitimate source task. More pages and more prompts are not automatic remedies.

  6. Verify and retest later

What to preserve in each observation

A useful measurement record makes the evidence inspectable. It does not compress incomplete coverage, unavailable routes, mentions, citations, and outcomes into a single score.

Question and intent

What the buyer asked and which decision the answer should help them make.

Route and sample context

The named surface, access mode, locale, date, and repeated-sample coverage.

Answer treatment

Whether the brand was recognized, mentioned, recommended, excluded, or described inaccurately.

Source treatment

The cited URL, its status, and whether it supports the exact fact associated with it.

Coverage and exceptions

Which planned observations completed and which were unavailable, failed, or not comparable.

Action and lifecycle

The confirmed gap, proposed repair, public verification, and later retest state without claiming causality.
